Project I

This was definitely one of the most challenging projects in 2022. It was the first painting built up in glazing layers. There were more than 20 layers, a real challenge for my patience... Mother and child are inspired by an ancient Roman semi-relief. I tried to imagine what a freestanding sculpture would look like. To give the impression that the sculpture stands in a church, I chose a stained-glass window from the Minster of Freiburg. You may not see it at first glance, but very thin glazes mimic the colored light hitting the surface of the sculpture.
